Dr. Haguit Ehrenfreund’s curriculum
I started my career as a dancer and teacher in the years 2000 in Jerusalem. In spite of a genuine love for the stage, my interest for therapy became more and more significant.
Many of my students did not attend classes to become professional dancers, but to learn how to express themselves emotionally through movement.
Graduating with a bachelor degree in Social Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, I then undertook a Master in Dance Therapy in the Lesley University Israel Extension.
At the same time, I worked at the Youth at Risk Division in the Jerusalem Municipality, developing a teaching model for socially marginalized girls, integrating oriental dance to the Marian Chace’s pioneering method in Dance Therapy.
My career
Through a period of twenty years I specialized in various institutions and with diverse communities.
Day care hospital : adult patients, affected by various mental pathologies, age between 18-60, men and women mixed groups and individual sessions.
Kindergarten : with children affected by communication disorders, where I worked with children suffering from autism spectrum disorder.
Completing my PhD thesis in the Training and Research Unit in Psychoanalysis, Paris Diderot University.
In France I focused on eating disorders treatments, consolidating my approach to movement as means of personal expression, aiming at a better self-understanding.
This diversified background enabled me to master the practical and conceptual aspects of her work in three languages: Hebrew, French and English.
Switzerland and Art Therapy
In 2013, I moved to Switzerland and obtained the Swiss Federal Certification in Art Therapy. I then achieved the title of supervisor.
My research and my therapeutic work are aligned with my dance background, complemented by my studies in psychoanalysis.
My approach to movement as means of personal expression and the non-judgemental message towards the individual’s choice of movements constitutes the cornerstone of my clinical work.
At the same time, words remain essential in the therapy, encouraging people to share their physical, emotional and mental life stories.
In 2019, I undertook a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Clinical Sexology at the University of Geneva to work with patients to adresse issues in their intimate lives.
