Training Content
The tendency is to focus more on words than on somatic messages, so one of the challenges for therapists is to remain simultaneously aware of messages and processes occurring in the body and mind, be it in themselves or in their patients.
Body Cartography® is a method to awaken and maintain the therapists’ body awareness without interrupting listening skills.
It is also a tool for reconnecting the client to the reality of their body and emotions.
This paradigm can be used in different postures: lying, sitting, standing and moving.
It will be useful to you at a personal and professional level..
Body Cartography®
Body Cartography® is a body-emotion-mind paradigm developed by Haguit Ehrenfreund, PhD, Doctor in Psychopathology and Dance Movement therapist.
This working model is a concept for the study and understanding of the links between bodily expression and past emotional and psychological experiences.
The paradigm provides a methodology for examining the flow of movement related to emotional expression and mental processes.
The aim is for individuals to be aware of their relationship with their own body and how this connection has been built through past experiences.
This model is inspired by the practice of dance, the clinical practice of dance movement therapy, as well as French psychosomatic and psychoanalytic schools of thought.
Program of the day
The day will begin with the presentation of the basic theories and key concepts of the paradigm.
We will experience the role of the body in relationship building (in daily life or in therapy) applying theory and using clinical examples.
In the second part, throw self-experience and initiation to movement will give participants a hand-on of the method.
We will end the day with a discussion on the method relevance in personal and clinical work.
